Land breaks free, creates island (briefly) in Little Cove.

During a windy snowstorm on April 6, 2009 as ice receded from Little Cove, a piece of land broke free from the north shore of Little Cove and floated to the center of cove where it remained until April 8.

A strong west wind on April 8th  pushed the land mass into the seawall owned by Tom Szajner on Peninsula Dr. where it remains.

Drain Commissioner Mike Solomon speculated that the high water level of 2008 may have eroded soil allowing chunks of land to break away from the shore.  Marty Chapo reported that a similar situation occurred in North Franke Cove where another piece of land tore free and floated into the main lake.
